Wow! The day has finally come and I am so excited to share with you all the new visual identity of Taylor B. Photography. I am so thankful for AliCat Design Co. for working hard to bring my vision to life and make my brand accessible for all my past and future clients to be a part of. This post is all about the process I have been in for the past 2-3 months and what this new and improved brand means to me.
As I said, this has been a work in progress. I knew it was time to update my brand as I had been ready for something more professional and consistent. I was ready to take that next step in my business because I felt my brand and goals had changed, niched down, shifted, and grown up. I knew my brand needed to present a more sophisticated and professional face to the clients I was wanting to attract and those I am already serving. I will be the first to tell you that before, my brand was kind of all over the place. I liked the color pink and my logo, but I had no idea what my visual identity was. The new brand process began after I finally made the investment in my business and myself. Not gonna lie I teetered on the fence for about a month because this investment is no joke. It is not cheap and I wanted to be sure I had a clear vision of what I wanted to do before attempting to develop a brand that would last. I needed it to be something I could grow with. After a long talk with the talented photographer and my cousin Ashley of the Coe Collective, she talked me into the investment. She was just finishing up her own rebrand and it was so inspiring to see, so when I finally made the call and messaged Alysia I was so excited to experience that in my own business. I could not stop scrolling Pinterest to find inspiration for my new visual identity and I was so eager to fill out Alysia’s questionnaire and get the process going. For the next few weeks, all I could do was dream of the potential brand we were about to bring to life. Getting emails from her progress had me so giddy. I practically waited by the phone (not ashamed haha). After lots of ideas back and forth, Alysia sent me a logo that stopped me in my tracks. It felt so ME. It felt like everything I wanted to represent, where I was going with my business, and how I wanted clients to experience my brand.
For the first 2 years of my business, I made my own website and used a free domain through Wix.com. I was lucky enough to have a talented friend in Casey Guthals (Instagram is Casey Creatives if you are interested in her work) who created my first logo. It was so hard to see that logo go because it was my first identity as a brand and to me that had some real sentimental value. I wasn’t very proud of my website though, to say the least. It was free and I just didn’t have the time to make it look perfect, nor the skills, but it would do for the time being while I had virtually no profit yet to pour money into a website. I realized that all of the photographers I look up to and admired had really awesome websites and their very own domain name, I wanted that! Fast forward a year and now I have that! The website Alysia designed makes me feel so much more confident to share because it looks so professional and puts my work on display beautifully. My website also provides my future clients with a rich experience of who I am and why I love what I do. Website building and design is no joke, and I am so thankful that I did not have to do it alone this time around.
Speaking of niching down, I also wanted my brand to represent where I was going with my business. I had learned over my nearly 2 years of photography that I enjoyed photographing certain things and thrived in those areas, and others felt like a job… I decided those just simply weren’t for me. To serve my clients best, I knew I needed to only provide services that I felt passionate about, niching down. I want each client to experience my passion and love for what I do during their session and to be just as excited as I am. The sessions that gave me life included seniors, engagements, and weddings and going forward that is what I will be offering. I am so excited about taking on the avenue of wedding photography and it is so fulfilling for me to be part of a couple’s love story. I love what I do because of the connections I make with my clients. When I get to work with couples I have the chance to experience the planning process with them, become friends, and be part of their most special day. I think that is pretty awesome! I also love seniors for similar reasons. Seniors are what got me started in this business and I can’t imagine not doing Senior photography. I love capturing each Senior and what makes them special. I also love being part of their Senior year milestones and capturing this pivotal moment in their lives.
This has been such a rewarding process. It included a lot of self-reflection, intention, learning, and patience. I am so excited to see where this new brand takes me and how I can continue to best serve my clients. I am still the same Taylor you know, but I have invested in myself to better my business. By doing this, I found my passion, my WHY, my love for what I do. This is not just a new logo and website for me. This is a new outlook on my business, a new standard I hold myself to as a photographer and business owner. Over the off-season of photography I underwent this branding and website design process with AliCat Design Co., I purchased a client management system for invoicing, questionnaires, and contracts, I made my name OFFICIAL in the state of Iowa, put together client wedding welcome gifts, I created new pricing guides for weddings and seniors, and started pushing out Instagram Reels. I am so excited to provide a new level of professionalism, sophistication, love for my clients, and amazing service in the future of Taylor B. Photography. I am here to serve you and that is why I love what I do. Thank you for being here, I appreciate you so much!
Xoxo Taylor B.
